Fishing lines for different angling techniques

Fishing lines differ in material, diameter, stretch, abrasion resistance and visibility. Choose according to fishing method, reel, rig or lure weight and target fish.

Monofilament line

Monofilament offers useful stretch and straightforward handling, making it popular for float and bottom fishing.

Braided line

Braid has very low stretch and high sensitivity, so it is widely used for spinning and longer-range fishing. Use suitable knots and inspect worn sections regularly.

Fluorocarbon

Fluorocarbon is commonly used for leaders because of its abrasion resistance and optical properties in water. It is generally stiffer than typical nylon monofilament.

How to choose?

  • diameter and stated strength;
  • stretch and sensitivity;
  • abrasion resistance;
  • reel capacity and fishing distance.
