Method feeder lines for main line and hooklengths

Method feeder lines should provide reliable casting, good rig control and sufficient strength. Monofilament, braid and fluorocarbon each suit different roles.

Monofilament or braid?

Monofilament offers more stretch and can cushion sudden movements from fish. Braid stretches much less and transmits information more directly, particularly at longer range.

When is fluorocarbon useful?

Fluorocarbon is commonly selected for leaders or rig sections where abrasion resistance and stiffness are useful.

How to choose diameter?

Match diameter and stated breaking strength to feeder weight, casting distance, underwater obstacles and target fish. Check knots and worn sections regularly.
