Feeder and bottom fishing lines

Line for feeder and bottom fishing should match casting distance, feeder weight, current and the rig being used. The range may include braid, monofilament, fluorocarbon and shock-absorbing feeder gum materials.

Braid or monofilament?

Braid has low stretch and transmits bites clearly, which is useful at longer range. When more shock absorption is desirable, consider monofilament fishing line.

Fluorocarbon and feeder gum

Fluorocarbon line is often used for leaders and sections where abrasion resistance matters. An elastic feeder gum section can cushion sudden runs and help protect a finer hooklength.

What to consider?

  • line type and diameter;
  • strength and stretch;
  • casting distance and current;
  • feeder weight and hooklength strength.
